It’s Kids and Cops day at the market!!
Bring the whole family down to the market this Friday when the Richmond Police Department, Richmond Fire Department and Richmond Rescue will once again host Kids and Cops day! While we sincerely hope you’ll never have a need to call one of these operations, we all know that life does sometimes happen, so this is a great opportunity for you and your kids to get familiar with the people and equipment they can turn to in a time of need. You’ll be able to meet your local police officers, fire fighters and emergency medical technicians, climb aboard the fire truck, take a tour of the ambulance and check out a police cruiser. Come with any questions you might have, and leave with a few free giveaways!
This week our farmers will be bringing their usual amazing variety of meats and veggies. They’ll have bacon, chicken and lamb sausage, lots of traditional veggies such as new potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet corn, herb bunches, hot and sweet peppers, and a few you might want to ask the farmers a recipe for, like dandelion greens, fennel and tomatillos! For a healthy and natural dessert, they’ll also have seasonal berries, ground cherries, plums and melons!
For dinner at the market this week, you’ll find the return of wood fired pizza and small dishes, tamales and burritos, savory veggie and meat pies, bureks, dark chocolate coconut and other flavored popcorns, sweet fruit handpies, maple butter fudge, maple cookies and pistoli.
Our crafters will be bringing their visual and olfactory delights! Hand painted cards with animal and nature themes, beeswax candles, handmade local soaps and lotions, scented eye pillows and chair massages.
Don’t forget to leave room in your bag for the other groceries as well, there will be mead, honey, traditional and bourbon maple syrup, maple candies, olive ciabatta and other breads, pies, kimchi, maple bread and butter pickles and cut flowers.
No music this week, let us know if you’d like to come play for a bit!
