The annual Huntington Public Library Chicken Barbecue is back on Sunday, September 11, serving 11 am to 2 pm. There is still some opportunity to work and also to contribute. It is a fundraiser to benefit the Huntington Public Library. People are still needed to serve, work in the kitchen and help clean up on this event to make it successful - There are salads to be made the day before the event - a sign-up list is at the Library and you can also sign up online at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090C4FACAD23A02-huntington/.
Donations of pies are needed. If you aren't a baker, then you can donate ingredients for salads of other things. Still needed are lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, lemonade. A sign-up sheet is at the Library and you can also sign up online at the web address above.
There are going to lots of chickens - plenty for you to buy a couple extra and put them in the freezer for an easy-to-prepare taste of summer in the middle of the winter. The chickens are a great treat in January or February. Plan to bring your containers to the BBQ and we'll fill them for you.
Please help out - this annual event has been raising money for the restoration of the Union Meeting House since the early 1980's. This year, the funds are being raised to go toward a matching donation of $2000 (we raise $2000 in two years and a generous Huntingtonian will match it) for HELD - the Huntington Endowment for Library Development, a non-profit group dedicated to the long-term security of the town's library. Great food, great cause! Don't miss it!
