Hi Neighbors,
I"m very pleased to be offering a masonry oven building workshop up at Good Heart Farmstead with Katie and Edge starting on September 30th and ending October 2nd. If you sign up by this upcoming Wednesday you get the early registration discount...
here are the details from their website:
We are excited to offer a 3-day bread-oven workshop with mason Duffy Gardner on Friday, September 30 – Sunday, October 2 here at Good Heart Farmstead. Participants will have a hands-on opportunity to work closely with a stone mason to build a bake oven out of native and reclaimed materials. We’ll use on-site stone, earth, clay and antique brick to construct a dome-style oven which will accommodate small scale production baking, roasting and slow cooking.
Overview: Using dry-laid and clay mortar techniques, we’ll build a stone base, a brick hearth and dome and a stone exterior cladding oven very much like ovens built in Italy for over 2000 years. Participants will be able to see, do and discuss all phases of the project, and upon completion be knowledgable of key concepts of traditional masonry and dome oven construction.
Each day will consist of around 8 hours of instruction and hands-on learning
Local foods lunch included each day
About the instructor: Duffy trained under two master masons in both dry-laid stone walling and traditional masonry, and he works full-time building with stone and brick in the local community. Three of his ovens are in full-time use with professional bakers.
Workshop cost: $185 if paid in full by August 31 / $215 after Aug. 31
Payment plan option: two equal payments of $107.50, the first payment due upon sign-up, and the second due on 9/1
