Welcoming a New Year of Young at Heart

On Saturday, August 27, from 11 AM to 2 PM, Young at Heart will celebrate the end of our 40th year and prepare to enter our 41st with an Open House. Events and activities will be held inside the Center and out. All area seniors are invited to join us for entertainment, food, prizes, and lots of surprises!
One of the highlights of the day will be the dedication of the location of our “Memory Garden,” a small stone patio area with benches, that will honor all members of Young at Heart, present and past, and plans for a special planting in memory of Rita O’Roarke, who passed away in 2014. Rita was a very active volunteer who also served on the Board of Directors.
Artist Peter Huntoon will be here to demonstrate his painting technique and answer your questions about his work, and local musicians will bring bluegrass into our midst.
The Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging, COVE (Community of Vermont Elders), the Rutland County Sheriff's Department and other agencies and organizations will be available to answer questions you may have about anything from Meals on Wheels to Medicare to credit card fraud, and much more.
Food and beverages will be available all day (free for seniors 60+, a small charge for all others).
