The Fire Department celebrates 75 years this year protecting the citizens of Shelburne. The department has already engaged in some activities like the Selectboard proclamation, working with the Boy Scouts to get their Fire Safety merit badge and appearances at the June and July Farmers Market as well as last weekend for the Farmers Market/Shelburne Days. .
Come and join us this Saturday, August 27th for a firefighters/fire apparatus parade and department celebration right here in town. The parade will start at Bacon Drive and Falls Road, proceeding down Falls Road to Route 7, back up to the fire station where you can see the original engine, our 1941 Buffalo, enjoy some refreshments, talk with the firefighters and if you like purchase some 75th anniversary souvenirs. We have over a dozen other fire departments coming to assist us with our celebration, some bringing their antique trucks as well.
A long time goal has been the refurbishment of our very first fire engine, our 1941 Buffalo. We are currently raising funds to assist in this restoration. It is underway and you can see our progress on the 27th. If you would like to make a donation to our restoration efforts and help save a piece of Shelburne's history, you can do so by writing a check to the Shelburne Firefighter's Association and mailing it to PO Box 911, Shelburne, VT 05482.
Join us at our firefighter's parade beginning at 2:00 this Saturday. August 27th along Falls Road.
Thanks for helping us celebrate 75 years of serving the Shelburne community!
On behalf of the fire department, Jim Buell, Assistant Chief.
