NMHS Parent Information Night - YES Plan Aug. 25

Past event
Aug 25, 2016

We invite parents and students to attend our “Making a Difference – Parent Information Night” on Thursday, August 25th at 6:30pm. Parents will receive information about the the YES Plan for this coming school year.

The Year End Studies Plan is a program that is too good to keep in waiting any longer. This past year a number of teachers and students from Northfield looked closely at the Year End Studies program at Rutland High School. The basic idea is to have academic enrichment courses offered during the last two weeks of the school year for both the middle and high school. Students will be able to choose courses in the area of their passion thus increasing the personalization of their learning. Here is what we believe are just some of the benefits of a Year End Studies Plan:

· Expand teaching and learning experiences through project-based, applied, community-based, and highly-interactive learning opportunities on and off campus.
· Create more choice for students in what and how they learn by focusing on student interests and passions.
· Students finish the school year with something totally new and exciting, focusing on topics that are not offered through other courses during the regular school year.
· Opportunities for students to work with faculty in a different light. Faculty members are teaching something that as a student you may have never known the teacher had interest or knowledge in.
· Allows faculty to teach content that they have either not had the time or placement to teach.

We encourage you to attend this information night concerning this wonderful program.

Thanks
