Island Arts & VFW Team Up for BBQ & Open Barn on Sunday

Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 21, starting at 1 p.m., for a delightful afternoon at the new home of the Island Arts and Education Center, the former Homer Knight Barn located at 1127 US Rt. 2 in North Hero. Chefs from the VFW will be on hand to prepare your favorite BBQ dishes including ribs, chicken, hamburgers, veggie burgers, and hotdogs with sides of baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls and lemonade all for only $15 with 12 and under just $10 and youth under 5 are free. After your scrumptious meal, tours of the barn will be provided along with an afternoon of entertainment. Among the performers will be Cierra Pepin and Josiah Vincent, both former Island Arts scholarship winners, along with local entertainers Carol Ann Jones and Will Patton, plus talented Grand Isle County musicians who will have an opportunity to appear on television thanks to LCATV who will be covering the event for later broadcast. Call (802) 372-8889 for more information. For those who still have energy there will be a barn dance, the first ever held in the Homer Knight Barn. Don’t worry about the weather as there is plenty of room for everyone inside the renovated space.

Douglas DiSabito, Grand Isle County State’s Attorney, will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Island Arts is pleased to team up with Veteran’s of Foreign Wars for this afternoon of food and fun and plans are to make it an annual event. Don’t miss this opportunity to support the work of Island Arts and the many men and women who have and continue to support the efforts of the U.S. military here and around the world.
