Are you a carpenter, electrician, plumber or other building contractor with customers who have experienced flooding? This workshop is for you! September 7, 2016 -- 6:00pm at the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center in Hyde Park. Free pizza dinner will be provided.
This workshop will discuss techniques to flood proof buildings and will review the risks, regulations and insurance requirements for buildings in flood prone areas. Engineering strategies for protecting existing historic structures will be presented as well as several case studies. In addition, take away practical tips for flood proofing your building that won't break the bank.
The workshop is targeted for building contractors, engineers, business owners, commercial and residential building owners, and homeowners that are interested in better protecting their buildings from flood hazards should come to this workshop.
The guest speaker is Robert Stevens, a professional engineer with over 25 years of experience leading teams in a variety of projects and disciplines. He is the founder and president of Stevens & Associates, PC, an Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil and Structural engineering firm in Brattleboro Vermont. This workshop is supported by the High Meadows Fund’s “Building Resiliency in Vermont Watersheds”.
