Enjoy the benefits of gardening later in the year! Health, well-being, flavor, and precious time outdoors are just a few. We have never met a bad reason to garden! Join Julie Rubaud, owner of Red Wagon Plants, as she shares with you tips and practices for growing, harvesting, and cooking vegetables and herbs during the later part of the season. Early August is the perfect time to think about, plan, and start to sow and transplant the beginnings of the autumn harvest. Cold hardy greens, root crops that will be sweetened by the frost, cabbages, fennel, and much more can make a late-season appearance that gives you a second wind in the garden and makes us feel like winter is just a little shorter.
In this hands-on workshop, Julie will demonstrate simple ways to protect and cover your garden for frost protection, how to plan out your seeding and transplanting to get the timing just right, and simple ways to prepare and preserve the harvest.
This event is rain or shine, and will include some hands-on demonstrations.
The workshop fee is $10.
