Aug. 19 Richmond Farmers Market Happenings

Come down to the market this week for some Grateful Dead tunes, sponsored by Mann and Machine, and some great popcorn!

Our featured vendor this week, Karen’s Artisan Popcorn, will be bringing her delicious and diverse flavors, from the classic herbaceous blend to sweet ones like maple kettle bliss and the spicy smokin’ chipotle! She’ll also have her bags of gourmet popping kernels and artisan popcorn toppings. All of Karen’s ingredients are certified organic, mostly from Vermont, and she donates unsold bags to the Chittenden emergency food shelf.

Also to snack on at the market this week, we’ll have soft pretzels, authentic Mexican tamales and tacos, bureks, savory veggie and meat pies, sweet hand pies, maple cinnamon raisin sticky buns, cupcakes and honey lemonade!

I know everyone is starting to think about getting back to school, but the summer isn’t over yet! We’ll still have lots of fresh summer veggies, including salad mixes, beets, cucumbers, carrots, melons, broccoli, pac choi, seasonal berries and heirloom and plum tomatoes for canning and freezing (call 453-2847 before Friday morning to order). Farmers will also be bringing some proteins, including chicken, bacon and eggs.

Our crafters this week will be returning with scented eye pillows, relaxing chair massages, hand painted cards, lamb skins, beeswax candles and essential oil infused lotions.

If you’re looking for groceries to take home for the week, we’ll have maple syrup and candies, breads, burger buns for grilling, mustards, ketchup and kimchi for your toppings, beautiful cut flowers for your table, and baklava, pistoli, honey and fruit pies for your dessert!

The Monkton Boy Scouts will be joining us this week to sell blueberry bushes, so be sure to scope out a place for one in your yard!

Music this week will start at 5:00 and will be provided by Dark Star duo. Joe and Bill started Dark Star in Boston in 1983 as an acoustic duo. They play music by the Grateful Dead and other covers you’re bound to sing along to. Thank you again to Mann & Machine for sponsoring this weeks music!

Help Our Parking Problem! Walk or bike to the market if possible, or find additional parking in the back lot, behind the field, and at the Town Offices, up the street.
