The Calais and East Montpelier Historical Societies will hold their Aug. meeting at the Four-Corners School House in E. Montpelier on Monday, Aug. 15 at 7 PM. There will be a special guest speaker, Gejus van Diggle, who is an author and collector of over 5,000 used playing cards. He will present several examples that have survived, incl. ball invitations dating back to the 1800's from Montpelier Village, Barre and other Vermont cities and towns. It sounds like an interesting presentation.

There will be a brief business meeting(s) of each Society prior to the program. All are welcome.
