Embodiment Activism: What is it and Why does it Matter?
August 23 7-8:30pm
Free/by donation
at The Everything Space- 64 main street 3rd floor
Embodiment is the act of listening to the body’s senses and responding the the body’s cues for movement, as well as cultivating an awareness of and connection to one’s self, others, and the environment. An embodiment activist inhabits their body and supports the resilience of themselves and others in small and large ways. Through lecture and movement exercises we will highlight how embodiment is a vital tool for navigating being alive: from the microcosm of personal emotions and relationship to the macrocosm of external systems of oppression and the ways we internalize them.
