The free film showing will be at St. Paul's Cathedral, 2 Cherry Street, in Burlington on Aug. 16 at 6:30. A discussion will follow the film and refreshments will be served. Don't miss it! The Macy's parking garage across the street offers two hours of free parking.
Here's a brief description of the film: This excellent 90-minute documentary exposes the concerted strategy by Exxon and other corporations to create doubt about the facts of global climate change by using pundits-for-hire who present themselves as scientific authorities. The film shows how the fossil fuel industry learned from and effectively used tactics developed by the tobacco industry.
Based on the book by Naomi Oreskes, the film includes industry reps, global warming deniers, environmentalists, and climate scientists to create a riveting behind-the-scenes look at how the fossil fuel industry has been so successful in blocking government action on climate change. Even if you think you already know the story, you'll find out there's much more to it. Come see this important film!
