Past event
Aug 6, 2016, 1 to 2 PM

This Saturday, Norwich University presents the final carillon concert of the summer series. Japanese-born Toru Takao returns to Norwich for the first time since 2007, this time bringing with him his wife and young son. Toru's program includes selections from Strauss, Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Sting, Stevie Wonder, and Mozart, among others. Bring a lawn chair and relax in the shade on the upper parade ground. Admission is free and parking is free and handicapped accessible. Following the concert the public is invited to tour the bell tower, meet the musician, and view a demonstration on the instrument. The carillon is the largest musical instrument in the world, and there are only two in Vermont. Norwich's carillon has 47 bells, the largest of which weighs 3500 lbs. Hope to see you there!
