Andrews Forestland Walk Aug 6 and a Richmond Opportunity!

Past event
Aug 6, 2016, 9 AM

Come for a walk on the Andrews forestland at 9:00 on Saturday, August 6 and hear about an opportunity for the Richmond community. In 2013, the Andrews family conserved 187 acres of their farmland on both sides of Route 2 next door to VYCC’s monitor barn property. They simultaneously sold the land to Bruce Hennessy and Beth Whiting of Maple Wind Farm. The Andrews continue to own 428 acres of forestland that they are looking to sell, and they would love to see the land remain forested and open to the public. They have been talking with the Vermont Land Trust to explore options, and we want to hear from the Richmond community--what do you want to see happen there? We will also be having a meeting in the village at a later date if you’d like to give input but are unable to make the walk.

Come find out more details, see the land, and provide input for the land’s future. The walk will be about two miles round trip with some up and down, and we’ll have a shorter option as well. If you think you’ll be joining us, an email to Bob Heiser at bheiser@vlt.org will help us anticipate numbers and coordinate logistics, but you can also just show up. We’ll be meeting across from Maple Wind Farm’s new barn on Route 2—head east from the village for just over a mile and look for signs for parking at the barn. Hope to see you there!
