SAVE THE DATE!!

The FOURTH annual Coop, Garden & Farm Tour will take place Saturday July 30th, 2016 at 9 am In NEWBURY VERMONT
Tickets are $5.00 (at the event) with all proceeds going to the Wells River Congregational UCC Church Food Shelf. This is a RAIN or SHINE Event.

There are many unique flower and vegetable gardens on the tour as well as historical houses, sustainable water systems, livestock, small coops, an unusual method of collecting bat guano for fertilizer, vintage barns, fun fowl and, our first ever, Water Garden!

Meet lots of new friends on this tour and get great ideas for your own coops, gardens and farms.
Bring your neighbor, best friends and other Coop, Garden & Farm Tour addicts.

The gardens are colorful, hidden, creative and flexible to change. Garden owners will give you a private look at their gardens and answer all questions. There may be some colorful treasures to bring home.
The chicken coops have interesting histories with different breeds of poultry and are made from different materials.
There will be livestock, large and small on this tour as well as great views of mountains and meadows.

This year the focus of the Tour is on some of the very old, often admired, but seldom toured BARNS ON RT 5.
These barns are part of our familiar rural landscape and have been here for centuries. All are still being used in some capacity, a testament to the craftsmanship of the builders and the care of the farmers who have depended on these buildings to shelter their livestock, store harvested crops and protect their equipment.
Don't forget to bring your cameras!

This tour will begin at the Tennis Courts next to the Newbury Elementary School, on the common in Newbury Village. (214 Pulaski St. 05051)
Tickets sell out early (at the event). We will begin the Tour PROMPTLY at 9 am. Suggested time of gathering at the tennis courts should be no later than 8:45am

This is a walking and driving tour. We will zig and zag from place to place, none of them too far from the Tennis Courts at the common. Car pooling is encouraged.

Please dress for the weather. Boots or closed toe shoes are strongly suggested as we will be walking over uneven ground in very rural farm environments.
Also bring water to hydrate yourselves and snacks to keep you up and moving! As usual, our Tour guide Janis plans a marathon tour and does not stop for lunch!
Tour should be over around or before 1 pm, so participants can have lunch nearby at the area restaurants or Village Store...OR bring a picnic lunch to have on the common.

The Coop, Garden & Farm Tour is proudly sponsored by the Wells River Action Program (WRAP), The Fowl Friends Poultry Group, The Wells River Food Shelf and the Hens of Newbury.
