Falls Prevention Program - Strength and Balance Training

Past event
Jul 27, 2016, 10 to 11 AM

Activities that strengthen your legs and improve your balance can be the most effective way to prevent falls. If you have fallen in the past year, or worry about falls, this community program is for you. Fall related injuries are the number one reason older adults lose their independence. Falls Prevention Tai Chi is an evidence-based program proven to reduce falls by 47%. It is a safe and effective way to help you maintain independence. Often referred to as "meditation in motion", Tai Chi most recently has been touted "medication in motion" due to its ability to reduce chronic pain and help improve self-management of chronic conditions (i.e. arthritis, COPD, diabetes and hypertension, etc.).

A new program is now offered at the Charlotte Congregational Church, every Monday and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. July 26th to September 7th. All adults age 40+ are welcome to attend. There is no charge for classes but donations are welcome. Call Mary West at 802 922-0498 or email igolflikeagirl@gmail.com to register. Accepting new participants up until August 8.
