October 12th 10a.m.- 4p.m.- The Ethan and Ira Challenge: a Historical Scavenger Hunt

Legend has it that Ethan Allen and his brother Ira argued over who was the better woodsman, they settled the matter by having a race from Bennington to Burlington. Ethan, being big and burly, barreled straight through all natural obstacles. Ira, using his woodsmen skills used a longer, but more developed route. Reportedly they both arrived at the same time and celebrated their tie together. Come to the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum on Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m.- 4p.m. to learn some of the skills that Ethan and Ira would have needed. This event is much more than demonstrations, all participants will get an opportunity to actually perform various tasks like lighting a fire using flint and steel, land navigation, military skills, finding resources on the land, and much more! In addition to a whole lot of educational fun, all participants will win a prize!
