At a joint meeting with the Calais Planning Commission and the Calais Selectboard, Amy Picotte from the State's Lakes & Ponds program will present information and strategies on shoreland conservation. Everyone and particularly shoreland property owners are welcome and encouraged to attend, "learning how to improve water quality along all lakes, ponds and streams, and more information about what goes into a buffer" This is nominally the same presentation that was hosted on a Sunday Morning recently by the Calais Lakes and Streams Committee, but the PC has asked for particular focus on the science of catchments and buffers, and mitigation strategies to minimize impact from development, agriculture, roads, and steep slopes.
