Hey Neighbors! Thanks to everyone who came out to the planning meetings last week. Decatur Fest is coming….

This year’s theme is: SPACE! Kittens in Space: A David Bowie Karaoke Space Odyssey
Date: July 30, 2016
Times: 12-4
This year the block party will feature:
• A walk through the solar system/planetarium walk
• A neighborhood history tour (hopefully!)
• David Bowie themed karaoke on the porch
• An awesome potluck/cook out
• Some more weird space-related art

How to help with Decatur Fest or the Ramble!
• Art! This year we will be constructing an amazing neighborhood rendition of the solar system. Neighbors and artists will be making temporary art installations of stars, the planets and maybe some asteroids to allow folks to ramble through the solar system on Decatur Street. Maybe there will even be an alien invasion?! Are you a local artist who wants to make a specific planet or star for the event? Reach out for more details about how to make art or when the next art build will be!
• Food and Potluck! Want to help cook food or provide a hook up for a food donation? Last year we served over 300 hotdogs and hamburgers to our neighbors for free! Any food you can help us gather for this event is GREATLY appreciated. We are also always looking for folks to help us hold down the grill! Send Lindsey an email! (contact is still below)
• Dress up! Dress like your favorite David Bowie! (Are you going to be Ziggy Stardust or the Goblin King?) Get silly! It’s Decaturfest…
• Vendors or Tabling Activists? Hooray! Cool! Come set up a table. Just drop us an email and let us know you are coming.
• Want to pitch in another way? Set up a yard sale, design a pop up art show or bring a dish to the potluck! Sign up for the clean-up crew! There is actually so much to do and we cant do it without you!
Also
• Move your car, please!—if you can move your car off Decatur Street by 10 am, this will help us be ready to set up for the party. We close the street to thru traffic from 11-4 pm, obviously keeping things open for locals and emergency responders, if needed
