All day long I have been processing the many senseless murders that have occurred throughout our nation. It's heart wrenching to know that so many families do not have answers to why they have lost loved ones. The anger, fear and intolerance has escalated to a point that is beyond comprehendible. Everyone says that love is the answer, but how many of us actually change our ways? We are accountable for our thoughts and actions, and whether or not they feed love or hate. For me, this is a time that I have to have more love, kindness and compassion in my heart through my actions and words. I have to look within at my thoughts and see if I am part of the problem or the solution. I aspire to be a part of the solution and have been thinking all day how can I contribute. What I can do is what I know - teach yoga.
During my years of practicing yoga it has been a place for me to heal my heart. Through the deaths of my brother and grandparents, breakups and saying goodbye to places, stepping onto my mat and practicing is where I have been able to grieve, shed tears and cope. And as I grieved, I was also able to see how I could heal, become whole again and love my life.
For this reason, I am offering my next yoga class for free. The focus will be on our hearts - healing and bringing in more love. The class is open to all levels. So, yes, beginners it is a great opportunity to get a taste of yoga. Bring your family, a friend, your neighbor. The class will take us into our hearts to see what we can do as individuals and as a collective whole. Please join me this Monday, July 11th from 5:30pm-6:45pm at the Valley Yoga (above Bisbee's) in Waitsfield.
