Burlington College's Institute for Civic Engagement presents its latest lecture in the series "Race & Racism." This series explores the new face of racism and America's new Apartheid. This week’s offering is a discussion of relations between the United States and Latin America, with a particular focus on the US' "War on Drugs" by author and journalist Ben Dangl.

Ben Dangl is an expert on Latin America and is the author of The Price of Fire: Resource Wars and Social Movements in Bolivia (AK Press, 2007) and Dancing with Dynamite: Social Movements and States in Latin America (AK Press, 2010). He has worked throughout Latin America as a journalist, writing for publications such as The Guardian Unlimited, Al Jazeera, The Nation and The Progressive magazines. He is the editor of Toward Freedom, a progressive perspective on world events, and Upside Down World, an online magazine covering activism and politics in Latin America.
