Bakersfield Independence Day Celebration 2016

Past event
Jul 2, 2016, 9 AM to 10 PM

America celebrates Independence Day because it was on July 4, 1776, that members of the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia, adopted the final draft of the Declaration of Independence. The second president, John Adams, said "I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival," he wrote his wife, Abigail. "It ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..."

That is just what BAKERSFIELD is doing tomorrow Saturday July 2nd!
Enjoy a full day of activities, including a 12 noon parade & chicken BBQ, 7 pm air show followed by fireworks at dusk. Other entertainment includes a book sale, fun run, blessing of animals, local music, cow plop contest, silent auctions, horseshoe tournament, and afternoon family activities and plenty of food.

Celebrate with your family, friends and neighbors!
