Come cool off at the market this week with refreshing sorbet and familiar folk music! Our Featured Vendor this week, Ewetopia Farm, will be serving up their fresh iced tea to cool you down and delicious sorbet for you to enjoy after dinner. They’ll also be bringing adorable hand-made felted animals which make a great gift and wool yarn for you to create your own!
From the farms this week you’ll find the old stand-bys: new potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, fresh herbs and more, and also some exciting additions you might have to ask the farmer how to prepare, like dandelion greens, salad turnip and garlic scapes! Here’s a hint: garlic scapes go amazingly with everything! We’ll also have an assortment of eggs, pork, chicken and lamb sausage.
Before you get your sorbet, stop by one of our prepared food vendors for dinner. You’ll find smokehouse pizza with gouda, pulled chicken and BBQ sauce, pulled pork mac n’ cheese, tamales, tacos and burritos, steak and ale savory pies, bureks, artisan popcorn and soft pretzels. If you’re looking to double up on dessert, grab a strawberry rhubarb hand pie or a maple cinnamon raison sticky bun! And if all that delicious sugar isn’t enough to keep you up all night, sample the nitro cold-brew coffee to wash it all down.
In addition to dinner and produce, you’ll be able to pick up some of your week’s groceries: breads, almond croissants, maple syrup and candies, freshly cut flowers, honey and other honey products, kimchi, pickles, fruit pies, mustards and sauces, freshly roasted coffee, fig trees and hops plants. Our crafter this week will be bringing hand-turned wooden bottle openers and baby rattles, along with natural edged wooden signs and fire starters.
Lastly, stop by our youth vendor to help support the community kids! The Camels Hump Middle School girl’s soccer team will be selling baked goods and fruit cups to raise money for new uniforms.
The FOG will take the stage at 5:00. The FOG is an acoustic-folk-jam band from the Burlington area. They've played at the Farmer's Market several times and are psyched to have some fun again this year. You'll hear songs by the Grateful Dead, CSN, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, America, etc, and originals -- guaranteed to make you either dance, think, smile, sing along, hug someone, .... or all of the above. The FOG consists of Gary Beckwith (guitar/vocals), Paul Butler (bass), Bob Greenlese (drums), David Conner (vocals, djembe) and Paul Reily (guitar). Visit their facebook page at http://facebook.com/thefogvt for recordings and updates.
