Gordon Stewart will speak on immigration and immigration equality of LGBTQ persons during this upcoming Sunday July 3rd 10:30 worship service at the Moretown United Methodist Church.
Gordon and his partner Renalto were married in Toronto, July 2013, after several years of living abroad while Renalto was denied immigrant status in the United States. Gordon Stewart has lobbied in Washington D.C. with Sen. Patrick Leahy for the Uniting American Families Act and is a prominent international spokesperson for LGBTQ immigrant rights.
Gordon has been active in Immigration Equality for over a decade, and currently lives in Switzerland. Gordon grew up in Goshen and graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, before attending Yale University, where he graduated first with a BA and later an MBA. Gordon's father, Dr. Charles F Stewart, was a well-regarded physician at Rutland Regional Medical Center Hospital, and his mother was an accomplished artist and active community and School Board member.
The service begins at 10:30. The Moretown United Methodist Church is on 100b, next to the Moretown elementary school. Holy Communion will be served following Gordon's talk. All are welcome and encouraged to join in this celebration.
