Reduce your trash bill and make beautiful soil: learn to compost! This Saturday, June 25, the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District is holding a FREE compost workshop at the Bradford Academy from 10 am - noon. All CVSWMD residents are welcome to join us, this means you Fairlee, Bradford, Chelsea, Tunbridge residents! (see complete list below).

In addition to providing information about how to get started, raffling off equipment to make things easier, and demonstrating how to build two kinds of inexpensive, easy to construct bins, we'll be bringing Soil Savers and Green Cones for sale at-cost to provide a reduced-cost opportunity for people to start composting, and start making that black-gold in your own back yard!

We'll cover:
- Act 148, what you need to know, when food scraps will be banned from the landfill
- "Compost Jeopardy" - what do you already know about turning your foodscraps into black gold?
- worm composting, bin composting and green cones
- how to prevent critters in the compost
- how to manage your pile from the least input to the highest level
- we'll practice building a couple of bins
- The bins we build at the workshop will be available to take home, and we'll raffle off one pre-made bin
- Plenty of time for Q&A and troubleshooting
- free food, drinks, and door prizes.

This workshop is open to residents of the following CVSWMD member towns: Barre City, Barre Town, Berlin, Bradford, Calais, Chelsea, East Montpelier, Fairlee, Hardwick, Middlesex, Montpelier, Orange, Plainfield, Tunbridge, Walden, Washington, Williamstown, and Woodbury.
