Please consider adding the opening of the 2nd Annual Community Art Show to your weekend calendar. Hosted at the White Meeting House in Waterbury, we’ll have an opening reception with many of the artists present this Sunday the 26th from 2 to 4 PM.

This year’s theme is Blue — An Artistic Exploration. Come see how artists connected to the color, mood, and idea in paintings, textiles, photographs, poetry and ceramics. We have blue water, blue moods, blue platters, blueberries… Over twenty of your neighbor artists (both professional and hobby) from Middlesex, Moretown, Waterbury and Duxbury are sharing their work. The show will be up through July 31 — including during the Waterbury Arts Festival on Saturday July 9th.

Why go to an art opening? It’s really fun to be able to hear from the artists themselves what they were thinking about, “going for” or learned when they made a piece. Sometimes it’s the story behind the inspiration, or a technical process that’s fascinating. It’s great to hear more about how they have figured out how to incorporate making art into their busy lives. I guarantee you’ll leave inspired!

We’ll have light refreshments on Sunday and the event is free and open to all. Then the show will be up through the end of July (also free and open to all). Come on in through the side doors, which are typically open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30-4:30 and Wednesday evenings. We will also have the show open to visit on Saturday July 9th during the Waterbury Arts Fest and several of the artists will be there that day as well. Hope to see you soon!
