Rich Warren has been asked to repeat the Human Microbiome and Health and Wellness talk he gave in May at Bristol Fitness. The talk won’t be an exact repeat as he will present some new findings as well as at least one new recipe. This event is free to all. Non-members are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The presentation will be held in the studio on the second floor of Bristol Health and Fitness this Monday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Human microbiome research has revealed that, in addition to diet and exercise, there is a third element that influences our health and wellness, and that is the composition of the microbes in our gut. People who seem unable to lose weight in spite of their careful attention to diet and their more than adequate exercise program, may never be able to reduce and maintain their weight until they get their gut flora into a better balance. Many things have been going on in our society and culture to throw our gut microbes out of balance, but the good news is we can change our microbiota composition. We will learn how we can increase and nurture the beneficial bacteria in our gut and how we can keep the non-beneficial bacteria underfed. We will conclude with recipes that are helpful for our gut flora and actual food preparation. Several food items will be available to try.
