Tree, Shrub and Herb Walk at #10 Pond

Past event
Jun 29, 2016, 5:30 to 7 PM

Join me for a Tree, Shrub and Herb Walk this coming Wednesday, June 29 from 5:30-7pm at #10 Pond in North Calais. Meet me here at Wisdom of the Herbs School by 5:10 pm sharp if you'd like to caravan, or meet up in the parking lot of #10 Pond at 5:30pm. #10 Pond is also known as Mirror Lake and is the home of Memorial Hall.

Along the shore of #10 Pond, we will visit Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense), Riverbank grape (Vitis riparia), Bog Myrtle also known as Sweet Gale (Myrica gale), Winterberry (Ilex verticillata), Barberry (Berberis vulgaris), and American Royal Fern among many others. We'll pass beneath a regal canopy of red oak (Quercus rubra). After visiting the plants at #10 Pond, I will lead you back to a spot on Cranberry Meadow Road to check out Twinflower (Linnaea borealis); hopefully her fragrant delicate flowers will still be in bloom!

The fee for the Walk is a sliding scale 0 to $10. Preregistration is appreciated; call me at 456-8122 or email me at annie.mccleary@gmail.com.

The Walk is on in the event of light rain. Please give me your phone number, just in case. Join us!
