Mr Kiernan is the winner of more than 40 awards including the George Polk Award and the Scripps Howard Award for Distinguished Service to the First Amendment. His publications include 'The Hummingbird:A Novel' of which Booklist calls a "many-faceted, thought-provoking story [that] prompts soul-searching about life, war, and death.”. Alan Cheuse of NPR describes Mr. Kiernan's 'Curiousity: A Novel' as "One of the year’s great delights. . . .
