Chittenden Community Forum on River Corridor Protections

Past event
Jun 29, 2016, 7 to 9 PM

The Chittenden Planning Commission and Selectboard are considering adopting the State of Vermont's River Corridor Protection Standards. This community forum will include presentations from the Agency of Natural Resources and the Regional Regional Planning Commission on how these regulations could impact property owners along the river corridors, all Chittenden tax payers and town officials in implementing the standards.

The Chittenden Municipal Plan and the Hazard Mitigation Plan have addressed the need for our town to consider river corridor standards. Tropical Storm Irene taught us many lessons on flooding and soil erosion from a heavy rain event. As a town, we have a responsibility to do what we can to keep citizens safe, prevent damage to essential public facilities, avoid shut down of our roads and reduce the high cost of flood damages.

Please join us at the Barstow School Auditorium on Wednesday, June 29th to learn about these issues and to provide input to your Planning Commission, Emergency Management and Selectboard on the adoption of these standards.
