Join us at The Old Meeting House THIS THURSDAY for an exuberant, pride-filled, love-themed (kid-friendly) dance party for Orlando!

6:00 dance and potluck 8:00 glowstick-light prayer
by donation, with all proceeds going to the families of the victims

WHY DANCE? Dancing is a response that refuses to give in to fear.It is a response that celebrates the lives of the victims. It is a response that honors the particular challenges that still face our GLBTQ brothers and sisters, and the special role that dance spaces hold for a community that finds very little other safe space. It is a response that invites the community in - and helps everyone know that they are truly welcome.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? Bring a dish or non-alcoholic beverage to share, or just come with your dancing shoes. Bring a donation for the families of the victims, or just bring your best moves. Come as you are. Come as you need to be. You are always welcome here.

WHERE'S HERE? At The Old Meeting House of East Montpelier Center.1620 Center Road, East Montpelier Center. We're an Open and Affirming Congregation. Information on what that means, and directions, can be found at www.oldmeetinghouse.org.

DANCE? REALLY? “Ask any queer person you know, and chances are they’ll tell you about a place like [Pulse]… how they felt safe for the first time on the dance floor there….50 dead and more than 50 wounded hits hard any time and anywhere. But for many queer people, what happened at Pulse hits as hard as shootings in churches hit for Christians…. It’s not just the death toll. It’s not just that it was a hate crime. It’s that it happened in a sanctuary.
So as you mourn and grieve and organize, here’s what I hope: that you do not let your sanctuary be taken from you.”
