Todd R. Lockwood: Portraiture Reimagined
Opening Reception: Thursday, June 23, 5:30 – 8:30 PM
Exhibition: June 23 – September 3
The Champlain College Art Gallery presents Vermont photographer Todd R. Lockwood's exploration of a dramatic new technique for creating portrait images. Classically composed in black and white, Lockwood’s “cinema portraits” are presented as moving images on ultra-high resolution flatscreen displays, captured with the same digital camera used in many of today’s Hollywood films. His subjects—artists, writers, poets and musicians—are filmed as they listen silently to their own performances, achieving an uncanny, almost hyper-real presence and revealing a surprising psychological intensity.
