I am reaching out to you, neighbors and/ or your business for community support and involvement .
I paddle with DragonHeart Vermont (DHVT). The organization is both a sport and fundraising venue for breast cancer ( and all types of cancer) survivors/ supporters.
Each year the organization puts on the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival (LCDBF). This event is an all day event where community organizations/ businesses paddle in a boat against others while raising money for an entity within DragonHeart Vermont called Survivorship Now (SNOW).
This entity focuses on community events and classes to bring cancer survivors together and feel empowered to keep healthy in mind , body and spirit. The classes are given for free. What is there to do ?
You gather up a team of 21 people ( 20 paddlers, 1 drummer). First Video link below will give a great depiction of the event. There is a practice weekend to run through the program and get acquainted with the boat and paddles .
The actual event, your team will have a spot in athletes village. This location is where your team can set up a canopy. Some organizations/ businesses use this event to promote themselves and get their name and services known.
Each year DHVT tries to enlist 64 community teams. With 21 people per boat; the event is huge and many people to network and promote your special
Mission of health and wellness.
The venue takes place at waterfront next to the coast guard station.

If this venue interests you, I would like the opportunity to come talk with you in person about the event. Perhaps a community/ neighborhood team can be present at the festival ! What could be a team name? Bakersfield Bounties? Fairfield Flames? Just some ideas how neighbors / neighborhoods can participate at such a venue .
