Celebrate World Refugee Day & Juneteenth (Emancipation Day)

Past event
Jun 18, 2016, 6 to 10 PM

The day's events will begin at 6pm, at Hardwick's riverside access area (156 Daniels Rd), with a meditation and offering for world refugees. Participants will travel in a drum and dance procession led by Ghanaian Jordan Mensah, through Hardwick village, to end at the Hardwick Townhouse. After a brief closure and sharing of food, the next portion of this event will be dedicated to Juneteenth (Emancipation Day), and include community sharing of creative expression related to the theme of African-American heritage, freedom, and social justice. The finale to the event will be a dance to the hiphop sounds and lively dance moves of Winooski based group A2VT, which ends at 10pm.
