Derek Hallquist's Documentary - Denial

Past event
Jun 15, 2016, 6 to 9 PM

Denial, by Derek Hallquist tackles two of today's most controversial and topical issues. At first glance they may seem miles apart, but are ultimately united by the struggles of one individual taking a stand on issues most people would rather ignore. With stunning access to intimate family moments and behind-the-scenes energy deals, and with unique humor in the face of overwhelming events, Denial manages to present an important topic through a funny, informational, and enormously compelling personal narrative.

Christine Hallquist, as she is now known, is the only sitting CEO to publicly undergo gender transition while still in office. Both recognized the overlap in their stories. Christine gave Derek unprecedented access to her transition process during filming, and Derek realizes that the story of facing global challenges will be as much about his own family as it is about the world.

Produced by Mosaic Films Incorporated, the Vermont debut of Denial comes just ten days after the film’s world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival and will be just the second time the film has been screened for the public. The event benefits Denial, Pride Center of Vermont and 350vermont.org. Join us for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 6pm with the film starting at 7pm, followed by the panel discussion.
