The PHWC’s mission is to provide health care and wellness education to uninsured and underinsured citizens of Central Vermont. The primary service area is Washington County but the Clinic will serve anyone who walks through our doors. The Clinic will celebrate 20 years of service in 2014. As we head into the changes in health care mandated by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), known in VT as Vermont Health Connect, the clinic has taken a leading role in the region in providing Navigation; face-to-face assistance to individuals, families and small businesses who need to educate themselves and make a decision about what health insurance plan/option they are going to pursue. While VT Health Connect will increase the number of insured individuals there will still be a significant need for the Clinic’s services particularly through the transition period. Looking to the future the Clinic has begun to offer dental and soon vision services, two areas of significant unmet need that are not addressed by the ACA.
