Hello neighbors,
I wanted to let you know about a unique event happening on Saturday, June 25th in Richford, Vermont: the Missisquoi Paddle-Pedal.
Hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, the event combines 6.5 miles of flatwater paddling on the Missisquoi River and 4.5 miles of cycling back on the adjacent Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail.
Bring your family, gather a team of friends, or come by yourself—this community event is for all ages and abilities. Sign-up for a non-competitive recreational class or enter to race solo, pair, relay, or as a community team. All participants will have the option of having their boat shuttled back to the start and will go home with a prize! $10 boat rentals are available for advanced reservation, thanks to local outfitter Montgomery Adventures.
Lunch will be available as part of the coinciding Richford River Fest in Davis Park, hosted by the Richford Conservation Commission. The family-oriented celebration of the Missisquoi River includes educational activities and games for kids, nature walks, educational workshops and demos, music, a barbeque and a bake sale.
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail thanks lead sponsors Northern Tier Center for Health as well as Jay Cloud Cyclery, Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail, RISE VT, the American Canoe Association, and Montgomery Adventures.
Register today at www.northernforestcanoetrail.org. Adults $15 until June 21, $20 from June 22-24, and $25 day of event. Youth $10. All proceeds will support waterway stewardship and the NFCT's youth program.
