Langdon Street Alive (http://www.langdonstreetalive.org/) is currently installing art on Langdon Street and turning Montpelier into a massive outdoor gallery.
Several different local artists submitted proposals for the project and over the next four days, all of the art is going up.
Tomorrow I'm painting monkeys swinging on a telephone cable using spray paint and stencils, like Banksy. My work will also incorporate a utility poll that is in front of the building.
Ironically, on Tuesday, a swinging monkey made national headlines after it landed on a transformer and took out Kenya's power. My monkey will also be swinging above a real live high voltage transformer but I promise it won't do the same thing because it's just paint, and not a real monkey.
It's also a coincidence that my monkeys are swinging towards another art installation on a building adjacent from mine and the artist decided to paint a huge 30+ foot jungle consisting of 12 massive panels. It will make my monkeys feel like they are at home.
I hope you enjoy the festivities that are sure to follow,
DJ Barry
