Jun 12, 2016, 1:15 to 2 PM

Join The Front gallery on Sunday, June 12th, 1:15 PM, at the Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier for a talk by Front member Alice Dodge about Mark Rothko and several artists whose work responds to his ideas. Alice's talk will precede the play about Mark Rothko called RED, a "raw & provocative bio-drama about superstar artist Mark Rothko." Her talk will focus on the divergent ways contemporary artists have responded to these artistic ideas.

Call the Lost Nation Theater at 802-229-0492 or visit http:///www.lostnationtheater.org to book your ticket for the performance on Sunday, June 12, 2 PM. Alice's talk starts at 1:15, before the performance. What an excellent Sunday afternoon, supporting not one but TWO excellent artistic and cultural venues in Montpelier!

A bit about Alice: She is a visual artist and a member of the Front cooperative gallery on Barre St. in Montpelier. She recently moved back to Vermont after living in Minneapolis, where she received her MFA in Visual Studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and spent several years running the art library at Midway Contemporary Art. Her work centers on abstractions and interpretations of landscape and place.

A bit about the play: RED is a Tony winner for "Best Play" by Oscar winner John Logan that explores the many shades of superstar artist Mark Rothko. "A searing portrait of the painter’s ambition and vulnerability; capturing his wit, contradictory nature, and humor."
