The Big Picture Theater & Cafe in Waitsfield, VT is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this June.
When Claudia Becker and Eugene Jarecki bought the old and defunct movie house in 2005, they had no idea what they were getting into. Getting from an idea scribbled on a piece of paper to the actualization of what has truly become “A local gathering place with a global dimension” was a long, and sometimes bumpy road. But ten years and many learning curves later, The Big Picture Theater is very much alive and thriving. The combination of home-cooked food, movies, music, art and community has cemented itself into a landmark location in the Madriver Valley.
This weekend The Big Picture Theater will host a variety of events to celebrate its anniversary, spring and the vibrant Vermont community.
The Betty Brew Fest featuring craft beers brewed by women, along with live music from “Thank God for Science” will make up the celebrations on Saturday. On June 5th there will be a Bluegrass Brunch with “Haywire” and free movies all day.
