To help celebrate National Trails Day, the Northfield Conservation Commission will host a hike to the summit of Paine Mountain this Saturday, June 4th. All are welcome. We will meet at the Norwich medical building on Paine Mountain Dr. (off Crescent Ave.) at 10:15 and plan to start hiking at 10:30. The hike is a little over 6 miles long (total); a moderate to difficult hike (steep at some points); and will likely take four to five hours. Bring a lunch, plenty of water, and insect repellent. This will be a great opportunity to become familiar with the trails on the Northfield Municipal Forest and Norwich's Shaw Outdoor Recreation Center. Please leave your pets at home.
