What's Growing on at Richmond Farmers' Market

Come to the market this week to get some Bluegrass and Bacon! Our farmers will be bringing lots of other meats as well, including pork, chicken and lamb sausage in addition to an ever expanding assortment of veggies including asparagus, salad mix, garlic braids, cucumbers, zucchini/summer squash, head lettuce, scallions, kale, pac choi, escarole/endive, carrots, shallots and fresh herbs.

If you’re looking to have dinner at the market, you can stop by Kadric’s for some bureks or baklava, grab a slice of wood fired pizza from Goog’s, or snack on some of Karen’s artisan popcorn and Ate Oh Two’s soft pretzels! You’ll also be able to pick up some other groceries, including honey, breads, mustards and sauces, kimchi, cookies and maple goodies, croissants, cut flowers and eatable nasturtium flowers. This week Walker’s VT Pure Maple Syrup will be featuring bourbon flavored maple syrup and maple candies! If you’re looking to pick up a gift for a friend or yourself we’ll also have hula hoops, hand made wood crafts and candles.

This week we will be joined by a few youth booths looking to raise some money. Williston Middle School students will be selling greeting cards to benefit Vermont Wildlife Rescue Association and the Camels Hump Middle School girls soccer team will be selling baked goods and fruit cups to raise money for new uniforms.

At 5:00 Wild Branch will take the stage to wow us with some banjo and fiddle. Wild Branch is a bluegrass band from northern Vermont, rooted in traditional bluegrass rhythm and vocal harmony with a unique approach to improvisation. The band features Dan Johnson on guitar and vocals, Todd Sagar playing the Fiddle, Jeff Thompson on bass and vocals, and Bill Gaston on the Banjo.

So come down to the market, drop the kids off at the face painting booth, take a few minutes to relax with a chair massage, grab some dinner and groceries for the week and enjoy the music! Hope to see you there!
