Dear Neighbors,

This Monday, the City Council will convene its first of two meetings for the month of October.

The Council meeting will begin at 7pm. The meeting had been announced as having a start time of 6pm with the first hour devoted to a public forum on the F35 resolution that the Council was to vote on this Monday. As has been reported in the media, the F35 resolution was taken off the agenda due to a pending legal opinion from the City Attorney that is not ready to be released. It appears that the F35 resolution will be debated at our next meeting on October 23 although it is possible that date could change and we could have a special meeting prior to that date or the resolution might be on our agenda for the first meeting in November. We have already committed to a 6pm public forum on the gun issue for October 23 so our plans for the F35 debate are yet to be determined at this time.

Prior to the Council meeting, we will convene a short meeting of the Local Control Commission.

On our agenda for the Council meeting is a resolution authorizing the City to accept a gift from the Vermont Italian Club for "Little Italy" Wayside Interpretive Signage that will be placed in several locations in downtown Burlington commemorating the Italian community and their place in Burlington's history.

We will then have an annual update and report from the Burlington Board of Heath.

We will have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor. Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.

After our Council meeting, we will convene a Board of Tax Abatement. We have several requests for abatement of taxes.
