Holliey White of Newport and Boston created Arts Amica in 1996, following a humanitarian aid visit to Cuba. Impressed with the rich cultural displays of diverse styles and genres so apparent throughout Havana, she was motivated to provide access to an American audience.

In the exhibit at Newport Natural Market and Cafe, Arts Amica is presenting "Havana Comes to Newport" which will include original paintings, drawings, metal etchings and mixed media on paper and canvas.

A reception for the exhibit will be held on Saturday, October 5, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with a short lecture about the art and the artistic environment in Cuba, as well as a guest appearance by vocalist Eileen Kennedy ("Some Enchanted Evening"}.
