Hello Coffee House Friends!
Please join us Saturday June 4th for a concert with
Jeremiah McLane and his all star band featuring Christine Bellec, Tim Cummings, Owen Marshall and Corey DiMario!
Come hear an evening Celtic, French and original music by accordionist Jeremiah McLane, bagpiper Tim Cummings and special guest direct from Brittany France, flutist and singer Christine Bellec. Cory DiMario will join on bass and Owen Marshall on guitar and banjo.
The quintet will play music from Brittany, France as well as traditional dance repertoire of central France and the British Isles. The group’s arrangements establish the connections that extend from Northern Europe across the Atlantic to Northern New England and the Canadian Maritimes.
A little bit about the upcoming performers.
Accordionist and pianist Jeremiah McLane plays a mix of musical styles from France, the British Isles, Eastern Europe and North America. He has appeared at numerous festivals in the U.S. and in Europe including the Royal Festival Hall in London, England, the Picolo Spoleto Festival, the St. Chartiers Festival (France), and the Philadelphia Folk Festival.
Christine Bellec studied classical flute at the University of Paris, and in 1990 discovered the wooden flute playing of Jean-Michel Veillon. Since that time she has immersed herself in the world of traditional music from Brittany, Ireland, Scotland, Quebec, Bulgaria, India and Japan.
Multi-instrumentalist Timothy Cummings shares an uncommon hybrid of traditional folk styles—primarily Scottish and Appalachian, which occasionally expand beyond traditional boundaries. Tim has been a member of the highly-competitive Manawatu Pipe Band (New Zealand), and also served as the Artist in Residence at the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts (PEI, Canada).
Owen Marshall has performed and recorded with many of traditional music’s top performers including Aoife Clancy, Liz Carroll, Darol Anger, John Doyle, Andrea Beaton, Jerry Holland, Ari & Mia Friedman, his own traditional Irish trio “The Press Gang” and the acoustic trio “Haas, Walsh and Marshall”. His music has appeared on NPR’s “Thistle and Shamrock,” and BBC television.
Double-bassist Corey DiMario is one of the most sought after accompanists in the acoustic music scene. He has performed at major festivals and concert venues across North America, Europe and Australia.A founding member of the string band sensation Crooked Still, DiMario brings a diverse musical palette and energetic approach to an ensemble. Most recently, Mr. DiMario was in the”house band” for Bela Fleck’s New York Banjo Summit featuring banjoists Tony Trischka, Bill Keith, Pete Wernick, Eric Weissberg, Richie Stearns, Noam Pikelny and of course Bela Fleck.
