FOODAROO II: A CELEBRATION OF VERMONT FOOD, FARMS & MUSIC
On Merchants Row and Town Green in the heart of Middlebury
Middlebury UndergrounD (MUD) is proud to partner with Town Hall Theater on Foodaroo II - a family-friendly festival that unites Vermont’s culinary artisans and beverage makers, with an emphasis on Addison County and Chittenden County vendors and farms. From food trucks to brick-and-mortar operations, this outdoor event showcases creative, locally-sourced cuisine… while top local musicians rock the green from the top of Town Hall Theater’s steps. Attendees taste their way through a huge diversity of vendors (even more than last year)… while street performers, dancers, cooking demos and visual artists showcase the best of Vermont’s thriving maker movement. Artists include Josh Panda and the Hot Damned, Dwight & Nicole, The Bengsons, The Good Parts, The Red Trouser Show... and many other surprises. By design, Foodaroo offers FREE General Admission to enjoy the performances and festival activities.
“Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.”
― Ruth Reichl
FEAST LOCAL: Foodaroo is a celebration of the farm-to-table lifestyle and the maker movement… both hallmarks of our state. This year’s event features an even greater variety of food and beverage vendors, including: New England Culinary Institute (NECI); Mary’s Restaurant; The Lazy Farmer; LuLu ice cream; Two Brothers Tavern; Green Pasture Meats; Fork in the Road (Burlington School Food Project); Jam Bakery; Farmers & Foragers; The Hindquarter; Juice Amour; Luiza’s Homemade with Love; Lickskillet; The Diner; Savouré Soda; Chef Julia Clancy of Agricola Farm; and more! Beer, wine, hard cider and other non-alcoholic drinks will be sold at Town Hall Theater’s outdoor beer garden, and indoors too.
FOOD FOR THE SOUL: Foodaroo is about food and music. Utilizing Town Hall Theater’s grounds in a new and innovative way… rock stars serenade Middlebury from Town Hall Theater’s front porch. Playing over a blocked off Merchant’s Row and Middlebury’s town green, four of Vermont’s best bands regale the crowd as people feast. Local jazz quartet The Good Parts starts things off at 3:00 p.m. Then, at 4:30 The Bengsons share their exhilarating indie-folk sound. Vermont-based Dwight & Nicole, who were recently named “Band of the Year” at the New England Music Awards, electrify with their soulful R&B vibe starting at 6:00 p.m. As the light gets golden, headliner Josh Panda and the Hot Damned turns up the volume to bring it home with fierce melodies and his own rock-and-roll style. Between sets, Merchant’s Row comes alive with carnival spirit – featuring legendary acrobats The Red Trouser Show, and other creative activities and surprises.
KEEP YOUR KIDS’ HAPPY: A powerhouse of partner organizations - Building Bright Futures, the Community Potluck Fund, Let’s Grow Kids, The Permanent Fund for Vermont’s Children, and Vermont Birth to Five – present BRAIN GAMES! Hosted from 3-7 p.m. on Middlebury’s town green, Brain Games features engaging kids’ activities, ranging from a life-sized Chutes & Ladders game to giant LEGOS!... and free smoothies, blended by bike power. Early childhood education leaders are on hand to guide the experience, and help explore the importance of early childhood development. Back by popular demand, the Middlebury Co-op has once again sponsored a kids’ cooking class, this time hosted by local chef Julia Clancy. The Vermont Book Shop and Ollie’s Other Place will feature a huge coloring poster, blocks and building toys in a quieter space in Town Hall Theater. And Cornhole will be on hand, courtesy of SunCommon... not to mention, plenty of bubbles.
