2013 Genealogy Conference

Past event
Oct 19, 2013, 8:30 AM to 4 PM

The public is invited to attend the 2013 Fall Genealogy Conference. Our second speaker will be Mathieu Paradis on The Impact of the War of 1812 on Quebec Border Fortifications and Communities.

Between 1812 and 1814, the North American British colonies and the United States are at war. As in every conflict in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Richelieu and Champlain Valley played a major role in the war. With peace in 1815, the British will revise the defensive network of their colonies in North America. Mathieu Paradis will present some of the army’s contractors and the economic impacts of the military construction for the Montreal, and Lake Champlain areas.

Other speakers will be Willard Sterne Randall on Benning Wentworth and the founding of Vermont, and Ed McGuire on Genetic Genealogy.
