Wednesday, May 25, 6-7:30 pm War is a Racket Performance, Fletcher Free Library, 235 College St, Burlington. The multimedia performance of "War is a Racket" covers ethical, socio-cultural and economic issues raised by our almost continuous warfare. A one-man performance by poet and artist Namaya,, a US Navy veteran, posing as Major General Smedley Butler, the most decorated marine of his day. His experience in more than five wars led him to become a vocal critic of militarism and profiteering. He warned of the military-industrial complex as did General Eisenhower. Now with the US Military budget in excess of $1 trillion dollars, it is vital for all Americans to hear the words of the General and engage in a thoughtful discussion about the runaway cost of the US Military.

This performance is for all Americans,- Democratic, Republican, conservative or liberal. It is sponsored by the Green Mountain Veterans for Peace and the Peace and Justice Center. Admission by voluntary contribution toward peace.
