CO-SPONSOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR FORUM MAY 23

Free and open to the public

Shelburne, VT -- The Shelburne, Charlotte and South Burlington Democratic Committees are co-sponsoring a Lieutenant Governor Forum on Monday, May 23, 2016. The event will take place at the Shelburne Town Offices (2nd Floor), 5420 Shelburne Rd from 7 to 9 PM. Refreshments will be served.

Democratic Lieutenant Governor Candidates have been invited to participate in the Forum. Candidates Kesha Ram, David Zuckerman , and Shap Smith will all speak briefly and then answer questions prepared by the Democratic Committees as well as those from the audience.

Kesha Ram is a representative to the Vermont House from Burlington. She has been in the State Legislature for eight years where she is Vice Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources and Energy. Kesha has been active politically since she was a student at UVM. She graduated magna cum laude from UVM with degrees in Natural Resource Planning and Political Science. She was student body president of UVM, and has also served on a number of Burlington boards and commissions.

Senator David Zuckerman has just completed his second term in the Vermont Senate where he is the Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and serves on the Senate Committee on Education. Dave served as well for fourteen years in the Vermont House. He is also a graduate of UVM (1995) with a degree in Environmental Studies. Dave is the founder of Full Moon Farm, a NOFA-certified, organic farm in Hinesburg. It is a CSA with presence at local farmers markets, and is co-owned by his spouse, Rachel Nevitt.

House Speaker Shap Smith has served for fourteen years in the Vermont House, including eight as Speaker. Shap is an attorney who lives in Lamoille County. He, too, is a UVM graduate. Shap withdrew from the Governor’s race in the fall due to family illness.

The Town Democratic Committees are proud to sponsor this Forum. They look forward to providing an opportunity to members of our community to hear from candidates for state office as we begin to make our voting decisions. The Vermont State Primary is August 9th."
